Tips For Promoting A Business That’s Tricky To Market

marketing decision planning

Marketing isn’t simple at the best of times; to market a business properly, you need to have extensive knowledge. It’s not something you can simply guess at, and it’s made more difficult by the fact that things are constantly changing.

Things that might have worked years ago have probably been banned by Google now (take keyword stuffing, for example) and flashy banner ads won’t have much impact since most people now use ad blockers. So to market any business takes knowledge and experience, even more so if it’s a tricky to promote niche.

Take themes like gambling, adult websites, even things like charities can be challenging to market for numerous reasons. If your business covers any tricky themes, here are some ideas for ensuring you’re still able to promote and marketing yourself.

Think of the budget

Something that every business needs to think about is their budget, but this might be higher if you’re working with more difficult themes to promote. Take blogger outreach for example, many bloggers will have a set fee for publishing articles on general topics, and charge more for those containing casino links or any other similar themes.

Marketing is expensive for any business but essential, if you spend well then your money will be returned to you plus all of your profits so it’s not something you can skip. Have a decent budget set aside for the outset and be prepared to pay more as a result of marketing a business with more challenging themes.

Get creative

If you’re working with a topic which Google and Facebook won’t show on ads then you’ll have to come up with different ways of advertising which can cost more from the get go.

You might need to run in-person events, look into marketing merch and utilise less thought-of methods as a way to promote your company. Think carefully about your target market, and how you can most appeal to these people.

Outsource the work

If you’re not a marketing expert, don’t try and guess as not only are you likely to waste money but you could actually inadvertently harm your brand.

Your best bet in this instance would be to work with a marketing agency who specialises in more challenging to promote companies, or specifically within your niche. For example, if you sell CBD and/ or cannabis related products you’d search for advertising for cbd companies and find an agency that has the skills and experience you need.

Outsourcing marketing is a smart move for many kinds of business, but especially so when you’re dealing with themes that are typically difficult to promote. As you’ll need to make sure you’re meeting legal requirements such as ensuring your products aren’t being shown to people who are underage.

Do you run a business that’s challenging to promote? How do you go about it?
