The process of starting up your own small business is very exciting but a stressful journey at the same time. There are so many things to think about, which you need to get organized before launching.
Try and put together a spreadsheet with a list of things that you can tick off once completed and don’t stress if the list is long, there is no rush. Below to help you with starting your small business, we have put together a list of four things for you to consider.
How Will You Communicate
Depending on your business you will need to set up multiple ways of communication with your customers. Finding a good email provider is crucial as well as a solid phone line that doesn’t disconnect (You may want to look into and learn more about what is VoIP?).
If you have a website that will be used heavily, you may want to consider having a live chat function so that customers can contact you on there as well. The more methods of communication you have, the better your customer service can be.
Social Media Channels
In the world we live in today, social media is key to bringing in new customers as well and showing the customer that you are a trustworthy company. With your social media channels will you be running them yourself or will you be getting a company to do it for you?
If you do it yourself, it’s important that you have a strategy in place otherwise you could be wasting your time. That said, it can be a cost to the business that is very high should you get a social media expert in.
Marketing Materials
Your marketing materials are extremely important as this is what customers and potential clients will be seeing. As with your social media channels, will you opt to create your own marketing materials or pay for a professional designer to do it for you?
When it comes to your marketing materials there are a whole plethora of things that you will need depending on what type of business you are running. These can include, Powerpoints, business cards, brochures, flyers amongst many other things.
Your Finances
Arguably one of the most important, if not the most important part of your business is your finances. Will you be hiring an accountant to help look after your finances or will you do it yourself?
And what accounts package will you use to track your invoices, sales, and expenses? It’s important to put a plan in place for your finances as the more organized you are, the less stressful it can be.
When deciding on your accounts package, it’s always worth speaking to your accountant as they should be able to recommend which one will be best for you.
