Industry events and conventions

Going to industry events will benefit in a few ways. Not only can you handle the marketing side of things by getting your name out there and speaking to interested peers, but you can also gain insights off of other people.

You can gain insights off of industry peers, make connections that can become advantageous down the line, and gain advice from the speeches and workshops held at the event.

Speaking at conventions can also be very rewarding. You can get your business’ name on the tips of everyone’s tongues by sharing what you have to say about the industry.

If you are thinking of attending a few industry events in the UK or around the world, take a look at RX for a comprehensive list of global events and ultimate experience to ensure you are top of mind of your potential customers.

Social media

So far, marketing has mainly kept their marketing to three main platforms: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. But there are a lot of emerging apps that are making their mark in marketing and can allow you to reach new audiences.

Names like Pinterest, Snapchat and TikTok might have been apps that you have heard of before, but their full marketing potential hasn’t been explored yet. More and more audience members are migrating to these apps, given the tarnished reputation of the original three, for different reasons, seeking different things, and will find your business.

However, where old digital marketing would create the one post and stick it across the three platforms, more creative content is needed for the full effect of each platform. Customers are getting wise to the methods of digital marketing and are swiping past, having never taken in what was there in the first place. To keep their attention, you will have to adapt your content to the trends of the platform you’re on. For example, Duolingo is going viral on TikTok right now, not for the app’s language-teaching abilities, but because their mascot is embracing TikTok dances and skit trends.

Affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing relies on influencers. Influencers can be on Instagram, on YouTube, and blogging sites, but there is a growing appreciation amongst marketers for micro-influencers.

Big influencers are starting to be seen as disingenuous by the customers. Authenticity and a genuine personality are extremely important to customers of the digital age, who are too used to making icons of people who let them down.

To side-step this, more and more affiliate marketers are looking to micro-influencers. Influencers with a smaller following or a more niche following who can appeal to a certain community of followers.
