Commercial Cleaning Tips 101

cleaning

Cleaning the office is a hefty task. Once you take control of a workplace for the first time is a daunting prospect, and when it comes to cleaning the space and keeping it tidy, it can take a lot of time and planning. Today we want to make life a little easier for you and take a look at some simple steps to take in order to keep the office clean all year long.

  1. Have a cleaning plan

The best thing to do before you begin cleaning is to make a plan. It is important for you to have a solid cleaning plan in place before you start, as this will allow you to make the most of your time. For example, having a steady supply of disposable towels or tissues ensures that you won’t run out midway through cleaning. Additionally, stock up on other staples like cleaning sprays and mop heads to avoid interruptions during the process. There is always a risk of missing out on tasks when cleaning a large space, so ensure that you list everything that needs doing and check if there is a way to organize it efficiently.

  1. Declutter

It is important when carrying out commercial cleaning that you start at the bottom and work your way up. If you have a whole lot of junk in the office, there is no way for you to efficiently clean the space, so make sure to declutter first. Decluttering the space will make a huge difference and this will allow you to get into those nooks and crannies.

  1. Clear your Desk

The main area of the workplace that can get out of control is the desk. When you spend a lot of time at your desk every week you will accumulate bits of paper, post it notes, water bottles and more; and this can overtake the space in a short space of time. Make sure that you clear out the desk before cleaning with disinfectant and bleach to ensure the space is hygienic.

  1. Tackle the Windows

If you have large windows around the office, they can accumulate dirt and damp pretty quickly. Keep on top of the windows once a week or so to ensure that mould cannot breed and overtake the borders. Use a magnetic window cleaner to clean the inside and outside at the same time.

  1. Emptying the bins

One incredibly important thing to ensure in the workplace is that everyone recycles their rubbish. It is all too easy in the workplace to become complacent and forget to recycle, especially if employees have bins by their desks. To ensure recycling, add bins in public areas of the office as well as in the kitchen. Also, be sure to empty bins twice a week to get rid of any smell.

  1. Computers, Keyboards and Phones

When cleaning the office, it is easy to forget about certain items we use every day. It is incredibly important that you clean the keyboard, computer, mouse, and phone every few weeks to keep them sterile. When touching these items all day every day, they can become a breeding ground for bacteria, so antibacterial wipes need to be used. Make sure to remember to vacuum or tip out the keyboard too!
