AXELOS today launched the new ProPath certification scheme, which combines leading project, programme, and portfolio certifications.

It encompasses methods and frameworks for planning and directing change, monitoring progress, taking corrective action, and aligning work with an organisation’s strategic objectives.

The scheme introduces three new designations, ProPath Project Expert, ProPath Agile Project Expert and ProPath Programme Leader. It covers PRINCE2; PRINCE2 Agile; Managing Successful Programmes (MSP); Management of Risk (M_o_R); Portfolio, Programme and Project Offices (P3O); and Management of Portfolios (MoP).

To obtain the new designations, professionals need to pass a combination of qualifications:

  • ProPath Project Expert comprises PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner, MSP 5th edition Foundation and Practitioner, and M_o_R Foundation and Practitioner. It is aimed at project management professionals who are looking for a holistic view of their projects.
  • ProPath Agile Project Expert comprises PRINCE2 Agile Foundation and Practitioner, MSP 5th edition Foundation and Practitioner, and M_o_R Foundation and Practitioner. This is aimed at professionals who value the flexibility and responsiveness of Agile project management.
  • ProPath Programme Leader comprises MSP 5th edition Foundation and Practitioner, P3O Foundation and Practitioner, MoP Foundation and Practitioner. This is aimed at professionals who want to increase their ability to manage multiple projects and programmes, while also controlling the impact of risk and maintaining alignment with corporate strategy.

Professionals can also apply to become a ProPath Certified Portfolio Director once they have achieved the ProPath Programme Leader designation together with either ProPath Project Expert or Agile Project Expert.

More details on how to apply will be announced later in 2021.

Axelos says ProPath is designed to help professionals support organisations delivering change through the reduction of cost, increased efficiencies, and making sound investments for the future.

Margo Leach, Chief Product Officer at AXELOS, said: “We always talk about change being the only constant in life. In the past year everyone has experienced this themselves. One thing that can help us adapt to change is upskilling and gaining best practice knowledge.

“This helps individuals master the pace of change but also enables them to support organizations adapt their ways of working and remain competitive.

“Our new ProPath scheme supports professionals within project, programme, and portfolio management by offering a clear career path and development structure. The three routes and new designations make it much easier for them to stand out, boost their career opportunities and stay relevant.”
