It seems that waste management companies will have no choice but to increase the fees of their services. This step can cause a lot of companies to lose clients, and it will also negatively impact the overall waste management sector. 

• Higher Costs of Landfills

Waste management companies rely on landfills to dump waste collected from homes, construction sites, and manufacturing plants. Sadly, landfills in the UK are nearing capacity, and waste management companies now struggle with finding a place to dump waste materials. 

Many waste removal companies now have to pay higher fuel costs to send waste to a distant landfill. Unless new landfills are created, waste management companies will have to pay higher rental fees to recycling plants, increasing the fees of skip companies in the process. 

Another thing to note here is that the UK is also struggling with recycling problems. Unless the government takes drastic measures, skip companies will find it troubling to get rid of the waste they collect. 

• Difficult to Hire New Staff

Almost all companies have suffered from staffing issues in the post-pandemic era, and waste management companies are no exception. It has been incredibly difficult for skip companies to hire skilled people and maintain their workflow. 

The shortage of HGV drivers in the UK has created problems for waste management companies. The Brexit and COVID-19 pandemic caused the shortage of HGV drivers in the UK. Although the government is trying its best to overcome the shortage of HGV drivers, experts suggest that it will take some time before companies can find HGV drivers easily. 

As a result of the shortage of employees, skip companies have no choice but to pay more salaries to their employees. Doing so has not only increased the fees of skip hire services but also made it difficult for skip companies’ managers to fulfil their client’s needs.
