Why You Need To Get Into Dentistry

happy

One of the most challenging professions that you could get into is dentistry. Every single profession out there has its positives and negatives, and you should consider all of the pros and cons before you go into dentistry.

There is one thing that all women should know about dentistry, and it’s that there are not enough female dentists out there. As women, we need to do what we can to make waves in any industry that we can and if you are looking for a solid career, dentistry is one that you can be great in.

People talk about the costs of dental school and this can be seriously off-putting, but when it comes to your future and your career, you should do everything that you can to make your dreams come true regardless.

Being able to work with high quality dental equipment and working under experts who will be able to teach you what you need to know is a gift, and it’s an expensive one. However, if it can lead to you one day being a fierce female dentist opening her own practice, is the cost worth it? Absolutely.

Pros of being a dentist.

There are plenty of pros to choosing dentistry for your profession, and we’ve got some of them for you below:

  • It’s a respected profession. A dentist is a figure in the community and a trusted one at that. If you know that you have people relying on you and trusting you, it can give you a huge boost.
  • You get to help people. As with doctors, dentists are helping people and you can spend all of your spare time helping people which will give you what you need. There is an instant gratification that comes with being a dentist and you get to be the person that makes a big difference to someone’s health.
  • You have job stability. Dentists will never not be needed, which means that you will never be without work. Cosmetic dentists are as needed as medical dentists, and you are a must wherever you live.
  • Income. Let’s not beat around the bush: the money is great! For women, this is a huge deal as knowing you are in a career where you are respected enough to earn a good income is important.

Cons of being a dentist

  • Time. It takes a while to train as a dentist and get through your education, which can be all consuming when you think about it!
  • Cost. The cost of your education could talk you out of it, but if it’s what you want, make it happen!
  • Stress. There are a lot of variables when you are a dentist and your day may not be the same thing every day, but it can come with a bucket of stress. You need to ensure that you can get through it and have an outlet for stress, too.
  • Physical. Did you know that dentistry is physically demanding? You’re on your feet a lot through the day and you will be using your hands, which means pressure on your shoulders and back.
